Sports Activities – Toddler School

I’m going to admit, I am not a sports fan! I barely even watch the Olympics. It’s just not my thing! So this week was a little hard! It was also a very busy week, so I had to toss activities in whenever I had a free minute, which means, I did a lot of the sports activities on the same day! Which is fine! My calendar below is just meant for a guideline, pick and choose whatever you want, and complete them whenever you want!

Sports Books

Let’s Play Baseball by Ginger Swift & Cottage Door Press

Ball by Dr. John Hutton

Goodnight Football by Michael Dahl

Counting Kidsparkz has some great activities! I chose two. The first was the “Baseball mitts and balls center.” I used the first page (numbers 1-3) to practice counting with Little Man. He is pretty good with numbers 1 and 2, so we are putting most of our focus on number 3.

Size Ordering – The second activity I chose was the “Baseball order by size.” Little Man is just starting to learn big and little, so I cut out the largest and smallest baseballs. Then I had Little Man touch the big one, and the touch the small one. We mixed them up and did it again, and again! Little Man really loved this activity!

Shapes – I used the football shapes from this free download. If you are not a member, it’s free to join! And while you’re there, check out my page as well! After cutting out the footballs, I had Little Man match them to the correct shape cut-outs.

Hockey Rink – This science experiment from Creative Family Fun is definitely too advanced for Little Man, however, I did attempt to bring it down to his level. We pushed different objects across the ice, and I showed him which ones slid fast, and which ones went slow. The heart magnet was the fastest, and the bottle cap was the slowest.

Build a Ski Ramp – I saw this idea on Toddler Approved. We didn’t actually get to do this, but it was my plan to have Little Man help me build different sized ramps, and then send his Little People skiing down them!

Sports of Your Choosing – The whole point of this week is to be active, so choose any sport that your child shows interest in, or is able to do! For Little Man, I chose:

Bowling – A great way to reuse all of those puffs containers! You can see our first two attempts didn’t quite go as planned, haha, but by the third try, he understood what to do!

Basketball – If your interested, here is where we purchased our hoop!

Ball Pit – If your interested, here is where we purchased our ball pit and balls!

Swimming – Little Man loves swimming! He takes lessons once a week, and gets better every time! It is so important for your child to learn to swim! Plus, look how cute they look in a swim cap! 🙂

Catch – We have been practicing this for a little while, but Little Man still needs more practice, haha. It was impossible to get a picture of this!

Golf Ball Painting – I didn’t have any golf balls, so we didn’t complete this activity, but all you need to do is lay a piece of paper in a box, throw some paint on it, and toss in a few golf balls. Then, move the box to roll the balls around. I usually use a container/box with a lid, that way the paint doesn’t get every where!

Cheerleading Pom Poms – Dazzling Daily Deals has an easy tutorial on how to make your own pom poms. I didn’t make them, because I didn’t have time, but I think Little Man would like them! However, I also think he would probably destroy them, haha!

That’s all for this week! I hope you enjoyed my sports activities! Check back next week for a new theme and new activities!
